8 Months Old!!!

Fingers are great for scratching things too

Cheesy tooth grin!

Could he be anymore perfect? I mean, seriously!

Look at them top teeth!!

So in love with this child

The back of his shirt deserves a photo op

Big Boy!

8 Month Olds have skills....

What we have learned in 8 Months:
  • Isaac recognizes his name so well at this point, that if you say it from a couple rooms away, he'll look all over to see who said it. It's awesome
  • He now independently turns pages when we are reading books. He LOVES books. He gets stuck on certain pages though, which makes the reading part a tad difficult. While we are ready to move onto the next page, Isaac will keep turning the page back to the previous one. :/ What can you do?
  • As you can see above, and as we have mentioned in previous posts, Isaac can now feed himself. It's amazing that he picked up on it so quickly. When we started, maybe a week or two ago, he was so uncoordinated. Now he can do it successfully! He's pretty funny though, still needs a bit more practice. Sometimes he'll grab a puff with his right hand, then put his left hand to his mouth! He always opens his mouth as soon as he goes to grab one, as if the motion of touching a puff makes one magically appear in his mouth. It's so stinkin cute to watch!
  • He LOVES Sesame Street! So far we only watch music videos from it off YouTube since we know he loves music so much. We have a couple of favorite videos in rotation: Jason Mraz, Adam Sandler, Feist, India Arie, and Will I Am. They're awesome, and we suggest you all watch them! Be forewarned though, you will be singing them ALL DAY LONG whether the baby's with you or not....
  • We are able to stand for longer periods of time unassisted.
  • We are now the proud owner of 4 teeth!
  • We are still in the midst of our first terrible, no good, cold. That paired with our two top teeth, this month has been a douzy!!
  • Isaac still has separation anxiety. It's to the point now where when we put him down to play by himself, he'll cry and grab your pant leg. :(
  • He says "Mama" and "Daddy" now, but not yet to us. He babbles them a lot. Like mentioned previously, dada gets thrown around with smiles, and mama is brought out when he is not very happy about something..
  • He has become much more vocal in the past couple weeks. He is making all kinds of new sounds.
  • He's now graduated to sitting in high chair's at restaurants, which makes the experience a lot more enjoyable all around. :D
  • We are pretty sure he realizes when he's pooped, and he really really doesn't like it. ;)

Know what else we love? Sesame Street. And Daddy. Watching Sesame Street with daddy is the best way to spend a morning.

This is where you'll find us most mornings, right before naptime.

Today was monumental

Everyday with Isaac is amazing for different reasons. It seems like we are learning something new each day, or mastering a skill we've been practicing, or saying new words. Speaking of words, have I mentioned that he has been saying "Mama"? Can't believe I haven't posted that yet. Yup! He's been saying mom, and mama pretty much everyday. What we find comical, is that he says daddy when he is playing and happy. He usually only says mama when he's fussy, mad or not feeling well. AND he groans it. Daddy comes out all sweet and with laughter, and mama is said with moans and groans. :/ I'm not sure how to take that, but I'll take it either way. It's just the best thing ever to hear him say it, even if it is with frustration.

I digress.

Back to today being monumental. We tried something new today. We heated up some corn and rice, and oatmeal and offered it to him. Up until now, we have been serving him everything room temperature or chilled. HE LOVED IT!! He kept opening up his mouth for the next bite before we could even get the next scoop! BUT, that's not what was monumental about today.

Today, Isaac took another step closer to being a big boy, and further away from a baby. :(   :)  We have been working on him feeding himself. He gets these delicious little puffs in amazing flavors, that smell so divine, and actually, don't taste that bad either. He can pick them up, and grip them so tight in his little fist, but he has a hard time getting them to his mouth. When we "help" them into his mouth from his hand, he opens his fist at the last second, forfeiting the little puff he worked so hard for, to the floor. Where grateful and patient puppies waste no time reaping the rewards of his loss. BUT TODAY, TODAY was different. Monumentally, different even. I was talking to Dan, and almost missed it. I saw him leaning in towards the high chair tray out of the corner of my eye. Low and behold, he had a little puff in his hand and he brought his mouth in to meet it. In one foul swoop, he lunged that puff forward and successfully planted it right in his mouth, along with his fingers. Which he kept in his mouth the whole time he chewed the puff, all the while giving a cheesy little grin. And mommy and daddy jumped around like monkeys in the background ecstatic over what our little son conquered today. We couldn't be more proud. Parenting is bliss. Exhausting, trying, joyful bliss.

Family Dinner

Sorry my posts have been few and far between. I've been taking pictures here and there but have been unable to post them because my work schedule has been crazy and we have all been sick. :/ Yes, unfortunately, sickness is still ravaging our home. And it's name is RSV. At work, they put me in isolation for 2 weeks, and in that time that grimey little bug made it into my home. :( It got me, infected Dan and spread onto our sweet little baby. It's the saddest thing ever to see him sick. I just wish I could take it all away from him. The crazy thing about kids and sickness is that even though you know he's feeling miserable, he's still happy. He still smiles all day and laughs and plays. Even though he's coughing and can't breathe through all the grossness, can't sleep well, and is barely eating his bubba. He still's joyful. What a blessing God gives us in children.

Our first time sitting in a big boy highchair at a restaurant (Pappadeux aka deliciousness)

He was wanting to get into everything

I didn't realize this came out so blurry at the time. :(

Maddie looking too big for her own good. STAY LITTLE DAG NABBIT!!!

She liked the ketchup more than the fries

He does this sweet lil tilt of his head on either shoulder, all the time.
He's just so precious.

Hope you are all well.

We sure miss you.

4, 4 Teeth...

Our FOURTH tooth came in today!!
We now have two on the top and two on the bottom!!
:P

and man are we glad that's over with!!

Unfortunately it's just in time for us to get sick. :(
Mommy and daddy have been sick off and on for the past couple of weeks. We were so thankful that he didn't seem to catch anything. Now all of a sudden he has a stuffy/runny nose and is coughing. :/ Worst ever. It breaks my heart to see him sick. So you can understand why he wasn't very smiley this morning

But sometimes if you wait long enough, you'll catch one.

A Late Night Visitor

Something amazing happened last night while you were all sleeping. Isaac's front left tooth cut through the gums! He woke up crying around 3am, which he never does. So we knew something was up. Low and behold, A NEW TOOTH. So he is now the proud owner of 3 pearly whites! His other front tooth is bulging like crazy, so I think it will be making an appearance in the next week here. Poor baby, one right after the other instead of knocking them out together.

When we got him out of his crib we were all excited because of his new tooth. He on the other hand, was perfectly calm. He looked me square in the eye, and said, "Bub-ba". It was clear as day. Perfectly articulated. As if saying, "Could we get this process moving, so I can eat already?"

He amazes us more and more each day as we watch him conquer new skills, and try new things. Watching him grow and learn is such a joy.

The non-napping from teething, not so joyful.

But how can you not be overflowing with joy, regardless of sleep deprivation, when you get to see this everyday?????

Enjoying some delicious sweet peas. He pretty much loves anything that has "sweet" in it's name.

Sweetness.

Sitting like a big boy in his high chair. Growing up SO fast!!

This is his, "I'm up to something...." look.

Enjoying his music table that Grandma got him for Christmas. SORRY for the sideways video, I need to remember to shoot videos the right way. Hopefully my videography skills will improve this year!

It's gonna be a good year, "dog" gone it!

Despite some of the trials and tribulations of recent times, we forge ahead. Whether you're ready or not, another year is behind us, and a new one has just begun. It gives me a heavy heart to think of 2010 being a sad year, or a year filled with heartache. After all, the greatest joy of our lives, besides Christ, came this year. For that we are forever grateful. Isaac has been a blessing beyond our wildest dreams. His birth has brought Dan and I closer together, making us a stronger family. =] To think, I shouldn't have been able to get pregnant with undiagnosed hyperthyroidism. But, I did. God intervened. He answered prayer. He blessed us. So no matter how the year ended, I choose to reflect on the fact that 2010 was a great blessing. It was a year full of love, laughter, and joy, and I am thankful for it. That's what I choose, I hope you do too. Here's to looking back on a beautiful year, and looking forward to an even better one. Cheers!

Isaac forgot where he hides his smile...

Oh, wait. He found it!

Teeth

and no teeth!

Perfect Blessing

Sweet little baby boy!

God bless you!!

Standing up on the couch, only allowable now as a baby. There will be no toddlers standing on furniture in this house. :0)

Knees buckling a bit

Still had enough time to flash us a smile though ;)

Standing up is tiring work!!
