Right after that appointment finished we headed over to Dr. Ortique's office for our weekly appointment with her. They did my non stress test, which he passed with flying colors! Dr. Ortique gave me the great news that I am GBS (-), so I don't have to rush to the hospital IF my water breaks to receive antibiotics. This is a good thing, because I plan to labor at home as long as possible. She checked me and said that I am 1cm dilated and 50% effaced. So I am making progress even though I am not feeling any contractions!! I was happy about that, it's not much, but it's something, and I'll take it! She told Dan and I that she wants me delivered by 40 weeks now, rather than 41 as she had previously said. Nothing had changed to concern her, she just feels more comfortable with him being delivered by then because of my hyperthyroidism. So if I do not go into labor by May 28th she will schedule me for an induction. :( I wasn't very happy with this idea, but after talking with her about the pro's and con's of waiting to go into labor naturally VS. induction, we decided following her advice was best. Dan and I aren't about to take risks with our children, so that's the plan for now. BUT Dan and I are praying that we will go into labor before then! We are speaking life into that, and will be doing everything we can to help it along!
We have a poll going about when this little boy will make his appearance. There's been some interesting ideas of what the prize should be if you win, but we think him being here is enough! :) Here's the spread:
Barb: May 15
Dan: May 17
Matt: May 18
Mark: May 21
Dad: May 21 OR May 23 ---he's papa, he can have 2 guesses
Mom: May 27
I don't really have a guess! I have no inclination, I am just willing that he will come before family comes in town so that they will be able to spend all their time with him when they are here! I'd put Marcie's guess up but she refused to participate for who knows what reason. Please feel free to put your guess in the comments! We will see who is right!!!
Prayer Request:
- The obvious one is that I will go into labor naturally and will have a good labor with a healthy happy baby and mommy. :)
- The second request is for daddy. Poor Dan caught something and is very sick. He feels miserable and isn't able to do much but sleep and eat. Please pray that he has a fast recovery, and is restored to full health! We have a baby coming for goodness sake and we need daddy to be well!!!
LOVE! <3
Larry is guessing that her will come on 5/15 because we are actually going to do something for our anniversary.
ReplyDeleteI'm not guessing for few reasons - #1 I don't care when, just that he will eventually be here and soon. #2 and more importantly, there is no grand prize, like I get to fly to Hawaii for my 35th anniversary next year, at your expense.
#3 No matter when he comes, I get to be his Momo forever.
First: he's a him not a her!!!
ReplyDeleteSecond: I think you are underestimating how fun this guessing game is....either that, or you're sucking the fun out of it. Your pick. :)
The r is an obvious typo and I must be underestimating cuz I'm not feeling the guessing game and the entire pregnancy has been fun for me, so there is def no sucking out the fun going on here.
ReplyDeleteNot sure why there aren't any comments on here guessing which day he is coming >[
ReplyDelete2 people have text their guesses, so I will put them up here.
Bonnie--May 25
Marcie--May 27
haha, guess? I made my call based on the refined, scientific (old wives tale) use of the full moon cycle. LOL Had to do a google search first, thank you Mr. Google and Apple for my iPhone.
ReplyDeleteI'd call the 26th, as L&D'll be packed like sardines around the full moon. However, because you're waiting to take Mat Leave and tired and want him out, I'll guess that you'll have to wait & get induced (sorry!) The good news is that, any way ya slice it, it's NEXT WEEK!!! Just got butterflies in my tummy for you :o) XOXO!
ReplyDeleteAnd I will take deli meat and some feta as a prize if I am right :)
ReplyDeleteLOL!! I know Jess, I already have my menu planned for when he comes out!!
ReplyDeleteBlack Walnut--Greeks 67 flatbread pizza with EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA FETA, no olives, light on the artichokes
BLUE FISH--VOLCANO SUSHI ROLL...my mouth is watering just thinking of it
ONE LARGE CHERRY COKE.
DELICIOUS.
I
CAN'T
WAIT
:D
Amanda, you are the best sis in law EVER. We'll go do a lunch playdate and order all the stuff that we haven't been able to eat for the last 9 months. John laughed when he read this, that ~ even at the end ~ the pregnant ladies are still thinking about food :P
ReplyDeleteFOR REAL. Let's do it!!
ReplyDeleteIt's a pretty hard task being deprived of some of your most loved foods for almost 10 months!!! I can't wait to be able to eat whatever I want!!!
WOOHOO!!!!
